One to One Volunteer Support
Grief's Journey - A Walking Group
Monthly Support Evenings
Compassionate Grief Support Program - Adult and Teenager Groups

Bereavement Information Packages
Print material compiled to offer understanding and reassurance about the experience of grieving. A series of four support packages which are distributed throughout the first year of bereavement provide general information on the grief process and ways of coping. Each offers reassurance of the many 'normal' reactions to grief which we may experience and the encouragement to allow ourselves the time and space needed to journey through grief. If you would like to receive the bereavment information package, please email us at [email protected]

Memory Albums
Our memories can be as precious as gold and act as balm to our souls. A wonderful way to remember a loved one is to create a memory album through the art of scrap booking. With an emphasis on "telling the story", scrap booking techniques can be used to quickly, simply and easily create a celebration of lives and events. It can ease the way through our grief journey. Hospice volunteers are available to demonstrate scrap booking techniques and consult with you about a project you may be interested in completing.

One to One Volunteer Support
Individual support is available for those waiting for placement in a group or who prefer individual support. Hospice volunteers offer support by phone and visits.

Grief's Journey - A Walking Group
Our walking group is open to bereaved individuals who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. It is a time to walk and talk, at a relaxed pace, with others who are grieving and to share ideas and support. This program combines informal support with fresh air and exercise.

Monthly Support Meetings
Adults are welcome to attend this informal gathering of people who are experiencing grief due to the recent death of a loved one and looking to connect with others. We offer a gentle, understanding and safe environment to those seeking support. Pre-registration is required.

Compassionate Grief Support Program - Adult and Teenager Groups
In the safety of a group the bereaved can share and learn from others who have also experienced a loss. Groups meet once a week for 8 weeks to explore and express thoughts and feelings experienced of the grieving process.

Topics addressed include:

  • Identifying your losses
  • Ways of coping with loss
  • Dealing with anger, guilt and loneliness
  • Self-care
For the teen support, please contact the Youth Bereavement Services Coordinator at 604-945-0606.

All bereavement support programs are offered to the community free of charge however Crossroads Hospice Society being a non-profit organization greatly appreciates donations from participants. Funds are used to continue the provision of these important support programs.
